Hello again,

This week will be a fun, busy week.


Reading class will be doing some activities on table of contents, glossary, and chapters.
We will also be working on a small story called Owney. We will be working on map skills throughout this story.

math- We are still working on regrouping using subtraction. Please practice nightly with your child.

My homeroom has secret Santa on Tuesday at 2:15.

Thursday will be Christmas Around The World. This will consist of the classes rotating to each teacher and learning about different types of Holiday celebrations.


Friday is our movie trip. We will be seeing Chipmunks Chipwrecked. this is always a fun time. Your child will not need any money. Our PTO is paying for the tickets and we will not be stopping at the snack bar.

My reading class:

We will be working on poetry, word families, and some dictionary skills this week. We will not be doing a story in the anthology.

We will have a spelling test on Thursday and a final test on Friday.

Reading logs are due on Friday of this week.



Math: We will begin working on 2 digit subtraction. Please review all papers that come home with your child. This concept can be very difficult.



This week we will have our funflatable party on Friday during our special times.

Nov 21-25

Wow, I can't believe that Thanksgiving is almost here. This school year is going by quickly.

We only have school 2 days this week. Monday and Tuesday.

Reading- We will be working on our poetry folders.

Math we will be working on 2 digit addition with regrouping.

Please review the papers that come home with your child each evening.



We will be making friendship fruit salad with our homerooms on Tuesday.
This is always a fun activity the children enjoy.

We will be having the Kindergarten card party on November the 22nd from 6 to 10 P.M. I hope to see you all there with your games and families.

It is getting to be very cold outside and we are having some children come to school without a heavy coat. Our play ground is very windy and cold. We go out as often as we can. Cold weather doesn't stop us from going outside. Please make sure your child comes to school with a coat, gloves and a hat.

Nov 7-11

We will be having a very short week this week. There is no school on Thursday or Friday.

We will be having teacher parent conferences on Wednesday evening from 4 to 8 and again on Thursday morning from 8 to 12.

Friday is Veterans Day.

Reading this week: NO SPELLING TEST AND NO READING LOGS...

We will be finishing A Trip To The Firehouse on Wednesday. There will be a test on Wednesday also .


Math- We are still working on 2 digit addition. We will be having a test on Wednesday.

Hello everyone!!

This week we will be having the Iowa test for 2nd grade. This will be on Tuesday and Wednesday. It is important to have your child well rested and also a good breakfast.

Reading- We will begin our unit on poetry Monday. I will provide the students with a poetry journal.
Tuesday and Wednesday we will be doing the Iowa test.

Thursday and Friday we will start our new story A Trip to the Firehouse.

Hello everyone!!!
Reading:

This week in reading we will be having our reading ACAP test on Monday, Oct 17. It is important that your child is here on time and eats a good breakfast.

We will not be having a spelling list or test this week.


We will be working on out animal reports on Wednesday and giving our reports on Thursday.

Your child will need to bring in a posterboard to display thier work.



MATH: We will be taking the Math ACAP on Tuesday, October 18. Please make sure your child is on time and they eat a good breakfast.


FUN TIMES AT ADENA :

Wednesday , October 19th will be family literacy night for Adena Elementary.
Our theme is camping and we have some wonderful activities planned for your family. k-2 will be from 5:30 to 6:30 and 3-5 will be from 7:00 to 8:00.
I hope you and your family will attend it will be a great night for all.

MATH: We will be starting unit 4 this week. This unit focuses on Tables and graphs.




My homeroom will be learning Spanish on Tuesday and Thursday from a few of our high school girls. This will be a great fun for them.



Our 2nd grade class will be going on a field trip to Circle "S" Farms on Friday, September 30, 2011. This is a wonderful field trip and is enjoyed by all. Parents are welcome to come. Mr. Snyder has asked that NO siblings go so you can spend time with your 2nd grader.

Please have the kids dress according to the weather. They need to wear comfortable shoes and clothes.

Each student will also need to bring a sack lunch and drink. Everything needs to be throw away!!!!

Don't forget to send in your child's field trip permission slip and $6.00 before September 27th.

Our field trip to Circle "S" farm will be Friday, September 30th. PLEASE make sure your child is wearing comfortable clothes and shoes. We will be doing a variety of outside activities. They will also need to bring a sack lunch. Parents are welcome to follow the bus to Circle "S" farms. You will be responsible for paying your own way in.
this is a great field trip and the children and staff LOVE it. Mr.Snyder has asked that you find other arrangements for siblings so you can spend quality time with your 2nd grader.

Reading:

We will be testing over Dragon gets by on Wednesday, September 7, 2011.

A study guide will be sent home with your child on Tuesday to help prepare for the test. Your child should also have their reading anthology with them each evening to read the story to you.

There will be NO spelling test this week.



Math:

We are working on ones and tens place value.
We are also starting with Saxon math homework on Tuesday evening. We will do side "A" together in class and they will do side "B" at home for homework. This needs to be returned on Wednesday. Homework counts towards their grade.

Hi everyone, My reading class: We eill be starting a new story called The Art Lesson. The cost is $5.00 and this will include the class, healthy snacks, and door prizes. All money collected will be donated to the school levy fund. Hello everyone. My reading class will be working on biographies this week. READING:

The children have been doing a great job on their spelling tests. I understand the words are a little more difficult than usual. My reading class should have no problem. It may help if you have your child write the words 3 times each and review them every night.

We have been having a GREAT time with Flat Stanley. He has been on some wonderful adventures and we are still receiving packages in the mail.

Our school web site has great information on the adventures of Flat Stanley. Go to Adena local schools and then to Elementary. Flat Stanley has his own area for you to look at.

MATH:

We will continue on counting money and telling time. We are also doing some measurement.
